Power Surges are one of the top causes of computer damage. Protect your PC by installing a UPS. A UPS (uninterrupted power supply) will keep a steady flow of power running to your PC if the power goes off or if your line is struck by lightning, thus enabling your PC to be shut down without any damage. UPSes can be installed on all electrical appliances.  A surge protection plug can also supply some degree of protection to your pC. No PC should be plugged directly into the wall as hat makes them far too susceptible to power surges.

Power Saving: a computer running o standby will continue to draw electricity. Save power by shutting down your PC at the end of the day and unplugging it from the wall.

Security: prevent your PC from being stolen by installing a cable lock. This device attaches securely to the back of your PC and can be fastened onto a solid object such as a desk, making it very difficult for a criminal to remove.

When editing an email attachment, always save the file to your PC first. This will help avoid lost data when the email is closed.

Kids sharing connections at a LAN  run a high risk of computer virus infection as they don’t always fully understand the risks involved in file sharing. Make sure their virus protection software is reliable and fully updated before attending a LAN.
